About Nancy
Thank you for visiting my website! I am happy to be here on the web, offering workshops and classes in Denver and its surrounding areas.
Here is my quick bio for you.
I have been an educator for most of my life. I have taught workshops and classes as well as consulted for corporate team building using art as a platform. I began teaching in Calgary Alberta when my children were very young. (That is a picture of my granddaughter, Faith, with me last summer). I taught fabric arts with the Calgary Board of Education in their recreation department. This was my first paid teaching job and I found I was naturally good at it. I also taught for the University of Alberta and Lakeland College in Vermillion. While I was teaching I was also actively engaged in creating art. With two young daughters in the house it helped me get through those long Canadian winter days...I have also taught in the education department of the Denver Art Museum, Denver University's University for Youth, Denver Public Schools, and the Colorado Art Education Association.
I have been interested in many forms of art making and some of the classes on this site attest to my keener interests. I have been a painter since high school and attended the University of Colorado on an art scholarship. I have had a business in computer graphics and have also worked as a building inspector for Indian and Northern Affairs Canada!
I am drawing on extensive knowledge and an enduring love of art and art practices when I teach workshops and classes. It has been my privilege to teach more than 2000 students in the enriching process of art making. After many years of teaching young children, I am now turning my attention to adults. All of my current classes are created and taught with adult learners in mind. Everyone over 17 years old is welcome to attend. You do not need any prior art knowledge or training to take one of these workshops and succeed. I have created workshops where all skill levels will be addressed.
